Polanie’s 50th anniversary marks half a century of preserving, sharing, and celebrating the richness of Polish culture in Calgary. Over those five decades, the ensemble has grown into a community woven together by tradition, artistry, and friendship—connecting generations of dancers, musicians, families, and supporters. Our history is filled with unforgettable performances, cultural milestones, and the countless relationships built through shared passion and pride. Reaching fifty years isn’t just a celebration of longevity; it’s a testament to how deeply rooted Polanie is in its heritage and how strong our connections have become, both within the Calgary community and the broader Folk dance community across the world.

Weddings
Past Events
Calgary, Alberta

Polanie has brought its vibrant Polish heritage to many wedding celebrations by performing traditional folk dances that add colour, energy, and cultural meaning to the event. Their repertoire—featuring national dances like the Krakowiak and regional styles from areas such as Beskid Żywiecki—is often showcased at weddings, where they entertain guests with lively choreography, intricate footwork, and authentic costumes. These performances help couples honour their Polish or European roots and create a memorable, community‑centred atmosphere during their special day. The first wedding we performed at was a traditional Wesele Goralski, and the last was for a lovely Czech and Indian couple. We are so grateful to be able to share these memories with our Calgary community.
