BRAVO!
Happen Annually
Calgary, Alberta
The vision of the Artistic Director of Vykrutas Ensemble & School of Ukrainian Dance, Vasyl Kanevets. This concert is set out to become an annual show of a professional calibre that puts the spotlight squarely on the next generation of Ukrainian ensemble dancers from across Canada. Polanie had the privilege of being included in these amazing shows and was able to showcase a joint dance project with Vykrutas, Pan Hospodar in 2020. This performance allowed us to show our dance abilities alongside other Ukrainian dance ensembles, contributing to the growing multicultural aspect of the show.

Jasełka
Happen Annually
Calgary, Alberta
Polish Jasełka is a cherished Christmas tradition that combines storytelling, music, and folk culture to retell the Nativity in a uniquely Polish way. Rooted in medieval Franciscan mystery plays and shaped over centuries, Jasełka features characters such as the Holy Family, shepherds, angels, and the Three Kings, often blended with regional folklore and light‑hearted elements like the devil or death for symbolic contrast.
Today, Jasełka is celebrated at the Polish Canadian Cultural Centre and often features dance performances by Polanie, Krakusy, Mazovia, Młodzi Duchem, and Gaiczek.

The Calgary Ukrainian Festival
Happen Annually
Calgary, Alberta
An annual two‑day celebration of Ukrainian culture held at the Acadia Recreation Complex in Calgary. It showcases traditional dance and music, authentic Ukrainian food (including perogies and local favourites), cultural demonstrations, artisan crafts, and family‑friendly activities. All designed to honour the heritage of Ukrainian immigrants who settled in Canada more than 125 years ago. The festival also features the lively evening Zabava, a social event with music and dancing. Polanie has had the honor of being the only non-Ukrainian group to perform at this popular event for the past few years.
50 Years of Culture
Since our inception in 1977, Polanie's focus has remained steadfast on the development of our dancers, their Polish community, and the proud pursuit of dance excellence in Canada.
